You should get a free Captain for every base you make, at least. The reason is simple - if a Hocotatian base without a captain is attacked, then it's a guaranteed loss for the Hocotatian because he won't be able to send in any plans. Yeah, I agree with this.

That's kind of why I want to keep the current captain gaining system. Hocotatians are colonists on this planet. It would make more sense that they don't expand quickly but instead concentrate on strengthening their main colony. Then, they would wait for more colonists (Captains) before spreading out to more areas. But, that doesn't mean that the weak Wildlife bases are an advantage either. They would have half of Hocotatian number of factory per base and would be easier to destroy. Perhaps Hocotatian could start out with extra base defense.

I agree with Bulbmin. Or, perhaps as an alternative, you should be able to do a project to get a Captain rather than just having to wait or make a base.

I like the idea of getting captains through projects as well as troop gain. This gives the player an option to increase troop effectiveness while focusing less on other things, and having the choice between more early bases, or a slow expansion.

Yes, I agree with the projects for Captains idea. Maybe 70 days per captain? 50?

60 days for an unarmed Cap., 65 to 400 for various upgrades on suits and things.

Doing a project to get a Captain is a good idea. It's also a way to get another captain again in the unlikely event they die.

Well, here's one area where I disagree...I don't think you ought to be able to get troops through projects. The reason being that if you focus all six on them, your troop count will skyrocket in no time, and you could use that to get ahead early on, as troops are pretty important at that stage.

Dumple, I think you misunderstood what Luftwaffle meant. I thought he meant that you could get captains through projects or you could get them through troop gain. He was agreeing with you.

I believe Luftwaffle's wording was off on this one, WD.
I think he actually meant that you can gain captains through projects in addition to the normal troop gain method.
EDIT: Well, beaten to it by Joe. That's what happens when you leave while typing something up.

Instead of complaining, how about you suggest something and try to work it out?
