Super Mario Kart? I haven't been able to beat it even after several years of trying.

You should try all the tracks; they're quite imaginative. Then, you will learn to hate the Starman, hate how the Mario Bros. always activate it when you try to past them up. Also Peach and Toad's Poison Mushroom is also quite annoying.
EDIT: And did I mention it's more realistic! You actually have to slow down around the curves. I mean, who actually drift when they're turning the corner in real life.

I remember playing that when I was like 6-7 or so.
I would always be Koopa Troopa, and I'd blaze through the easy cups but would go to a complete stop at the Special Cup. Rainbow Road was harder then than now, I'd say, especially with the complete lack of guardrails.

My family never had SNES. We had an NES, but then my mom gave it away when we got our 64.

Koopa Trooper was my favorite racer too! I could never control any of the heavy weights.
Rainbow Road was actually the hardest track instead of being a simplistic victory race in the SNES version. There were also a lot of Thwomps.
