These are my suggestions. Take 'em or leave 'em (or in WD's case, make a long argument rebutting 'em! Just kidding, Dumple, I love you (no homo).)
1. Have alliances serve a larger purpose:
- The only use they have right now is for counter-attacks, as other than during sieges or if you have some of your troops situated at an ally's base, there is no way of defending them. I think this could be changed.
2. Clear away confusing rules:
- Rules that over-complicate things. Such as... petal maximum rule (I don't see the purpose, it just hinders those who like to hoard money), oceanic petal bonuses (I think the fact that nautical transport is two times quicker is a big enough bonus for having a lake-side base), recruitment centers (could stay or go, but personally I think they just make it so people have to remember one more thing to do), etc.
3. Encourage battles:
- I think the BP System worked over on NW, but I don't want it to be the same system here. Just some sort of incentive. Oh, and also encourage mods I guess, but having more [active] mods should help.
4. Destroy the Universal Store:
- It is the reason trade collapsed. Trade takes longer than just buying from the Universal Store. It also takes away the purpose of buying mines: if only one guy has an aluminum mine, then people are going to be buying aluminum from him if they don't want to waste a project slot. If everyone has cheap access to an aluminum supply, no one is going to trade for it, they are just going to buy from said cheap supply (the US).
5. Reduce travel times:
- Kind of goes along with the first suggestion. I know, this game is supposed to be somewhat realistic (besides the plants with legs and albino fire-breathing elephants), but it cuts down on trade and of course helping your ally.
IF ALL ELSE FAILS...
6. Drastic change to less of a war game:
- To something like one of bulbmin's suggestions or someone else's ideas. This doesn't need to be a strict war game that shares its core with Nintendo Wars and other "Wars". But I think we should start with small changes, and if it just isn't working, we can go ahead with bigger changes.
OH, AND...
7. Bring back Lufty:
- Like, now. I miss that guy...
