I've started to think about what army I wanted and I've narrowed it down to a few (a tad vague, I apologize):
Weak Guys Strike Back: I take some of the harmless enemies (i.e. Female Sheargrub, Wiskerpillar, and flitterby), give `em upgrades to make them deadly
Meet the Family: The only troops are different kinds of bulborbs
Craws: Variations of crawmads and the segmented crawbster
Mortar Beetles: ACB, DCB, and CBL & variants
I'm kind of leaning towards either Mortar beetles or Weak Guys. What do you guys think?

They all look like quite a challenge with the limitations, but I think WGSB would be the most interesting. So I guess you'll be going heavy into armor, weapons, and upgrades with them? Or do you plan on having weak troops but powerful Supers/vehicles?

I second that, as butterflies of death seem quite hilarious. The only problem is that you won't have much time for mines or defenses as most, if not all of your projects will be spent on powering up your pathetic arsenal of wimps. Secondly I would say the Mortar Beetles as the other two don't seem as fun to implement.

Or do you plan on having weak troops but powerful Supers/vehicles? I would go with troops that normally can't cause any harm and give them upgrades. For WMs I'll probably go with lightly armored tanks that go fast and recon vehicles. Light and fast boats and aircraft, too.

For this version, I was planning an all Unmarked Spectralid army, but I've decided on something else.
As for challenges, any creature can be made effective. I had a Iridescent Beetle army last version (who were harmless in the actual games).
If I had to pick, I'd go with either the first one or the last one.
