I'm not quite sure if I want to go through with all bulbmin's ideas. I mean, the majority of the forum seems to like them, and I thank him for actually coming up with ideas rather than just telling people to start thinking of ideas or commenting on others' ideas, but I'm not sure if I want this to be like a full-fledged RTS game. Sure, that is kinda what it is already, but... all the stuff about defending certain positions, requistion points... it just to me doesn't feel right with a game like this. The only real rule changes that I am 100% committed to are the nixing of trade routes and multiple bases, and if I said I liked something earlier, well, maybe I can't quite fully agree with its addition/removal. Again, I don't want to slam people for trying to come up with ideas, I just am wary to make these drastic of changes. Maybe I'm the only one in this boat, although I think Joe is here with me. Do we really need to change it that much? A brief period of inactivity... and this? The first wars were the best, the second wars were also good, the third was fine with me but we were plagued with inactivity and multiple bases. All this talk about this forum dying is a little dramatic for my liking. SMKW has gone through slow periods... every small forum is bound to. But I think if we calm down and take things slowly, we can cut the crap about a do-or-die situation here. Well, that's my say on the matter. I'll try and come up with any ideas if I get them in time, but again, let's just take a deep breathe and get collected before hitting the panic button. Most of this spiel arose from the fact that if we changed to more of what bulbmin has in mind, that my awesome music army wouldn't really fit in, but that's not the point. I'm in that boat to. And instead of completely starting a new version, we should just improve the current one.

Well, taking out multiple bases alone would mean we need a complete restart.
Also, I'm in the tinfoil boat. I mean, I don't like the idea of all the already chosen scenarios and stuff.

I'm siding with bulbmin. His ideas are great, they seem like they would be a lot of fun .

Could you tell me why you think so?

Could you tell me why you think so? For my view on it, I think they're good because they take the game in an entirely different direction while adding more tactics and strategy to it. It's not to be denied that it does call on creativity and active moderators, but I think it can be pulled off.

Poll please. I support tin, by the way. bulbmin's ideas effects the game so that 90% of the game is writing plans and doing battles, and almost nothing else. I don't want that. We have a problem with giving reasons for battling, but this is overkill. I think that can be done by finding the Version 1 rules and doing some changes (Reducing recruited troops, increasing number of possible allies, perhaps more loot per battle than before). We would be walking away from Pikmin Wars to Pikmin Almost-Single-Player-Campaigns.

But the point of this game is fighting and planning. I'm bored when I'm not in a war. I wanna fight a battle every day. However we could do something to compromise, but I have the flu, I'm to tired to be creative. Anyway, even IF we do decide to go back a version, I want some new rules to add tactics and encourage warfare.

People, the first and second wars failed for a reason. More of the same would obviously lead to the inevitable conclusion: another failure. If we don't take the game in a different direction, who knows how many more "hur hur generic airplane number 22 coming up!" lines this game can take.

Petrosian, there will not be more allies allowed per army. There are reasons towards only having one, stop bringing it up...
Rydon summed up my feelings on the issue pretty well. Of course, we might have just inadvertently made a split in the forum. I reeaally hope that isn't going to be a problem.

Well, Rydon won me over. In the end, all of the versions failed, so we should probably try something new.

Well, I am opening to try them, but it seems to me there are a lot more people who are a little testy as well for that dramatic change right this instant. Sure, maybe it'll be great, but...
Well, whatever, it should be up to mod discretion. They probably know best. If they decide to take the game in that direction, I am willing to start contributing ideas in that vein, and willing to give the new version a shot before shooting it down.

Thanks, you two. Simply put, we've gone through three versions of a fairly similar concept; it's not to be denied that there have been some pretty big changes, but it's still pretty much the same game. Hopefully, this will keep the good parts of this one and add the best parts of Bulbmin's ideas.
One thing I think we need to clarify soon, however, is how the game will work. I expect that Bulbmin meant for logs to be written in similar fashion to this game, but I don't see exactly how it'll work, since we haven't decided on resources, settings, or a lot of stuff like that. In my opinion, for this to work, we'll need to enhance the technology level used here. Otherwise, it could be too simplistic to work; y'know, using the kind of tech Hocotatians did last version. Otherwise, it would be pretty hard to be handing out believable government-funded vehicles and such if everything was made of wood.

Wait a sec, I don't think the first version ever failed. We were getting so many members that I complained about trying to find my own logs. What I remember was that we got bored fighting the same armies again. A reset could do.
