So I was thinking, and I came up with an idea for a video game setting that hasn't been used before. Basically, it's a version of our world where
a) Magic is real, and
b) History is different.
Anyway, this would be an RTS game. It could also be an RPG.
-Nations-
The Anglo-German Empire (Imperial Europe)
As a result of intermarriage between the royal families of Germania and Great Britain, the two countries came under the rule of one king, Roderick the Second. The two countries together became known as the Anglo-German Empire, and with their combined resources they were able to gradually take over the other nations of Europe. The last country to be assimilated was France in the year 52 (According to the Imperial calendar, which has year 0 as the year Roderick II came to power.) Shortly afterwards, Roderick died, and the throne fell to his successor, Roderick the Third, who took for himself the title of Emperor of Imperial Europe.
Currently, it is the Imperial year 91. The peoples of Imperial Europe are industrious, hard working and resourceful. The Emperor's practices of encouraging invention, innovation and progress have spurred the Anglo-German Empire forward, and it is now a major world power. Advanced in both spellcraft and technology, the Empire is the leading nation in the arts of gun smithing, golem forging and the creation of steam-powered vechicles.
Imperial Europe is currently at war with the native people of Russia. The divided Russian city-states proved easy prey for the united might of the Anglo-German Empire at first, but the invasion has been stalled as the Russian city states have put aside their differences and formed a coalition known as the Iron Confederacy, for the purpose of stopping the invading Anglo-Germans.
-Technology-
Technology is steam-based in this world. Think steampunk. Some nations are more advanced than others, though. Steam-powered locomotives transport people and goods en masse. Smaller steam powered carriages that do not rely on rails are privately owned by wealthy individuals. Constructs and golems made from a combination of steam-driven clockwork and magic perform menial tasks. Airships traverse the skies, transporting goods and exploring new areas. Steam paddle ships ferry people overseas to the new world.
The most advanced weapons are the flintlock muskets and pistols invented by Anglo-German engineers. Other countries use more primitive matchlock weapons, or even more archaic weapons such as the crossbow. Metal mounts in the image of horses carry cavalrymen into battle, powered by steam and sorcery.

Ah, I have to go now. I still have lots to do here, but I'll finish it later. Any comments would be appreciated.
