The Megatank is not cost effective compared to much cheaper weapons. There's no point to building them.
If you like, we can have a little match on AWBW.

Its vision is 1, it can only move 4 spaces, and it has 3 ammo. It is INSANELY powerful if you let it get a shot off, but it's such a pain to do that there is little point.
See, the reason I like Black Hole Rising and Days of Ruin more than Dual Strike is because there are fewer uber units. In Black Hole Rising, the best units (In general) are the Battleships, Neotanks, and Bombers. They cost a lot, and they're extremely effective in most cases. However, each can be destroyed in two shots from a good counter-unit. In Dual Strike, almost every one of the new units was like those, only worse. Furthermore, most are a pain to destroy. For the most part, they're very expensive, yet strange and unorthodox. For example, the Megatank; it's like this hulking mass that can't get anywhere because it's too friggin' slow, but will blow you away if you attack it with a ground unit.
Most of the other new ones are like that. No sense of balance. If you compare that to the new units in Days of Ruin, you will find a much better system. Most of the new units are either middle- or low-class. It also lowers the price of every ship except for the Submarine, and balances their strength accordingly. The tank system is also massively improved; you have Tanks (7,000 funds), Medium Tanks (12,000) and War Tanks (16,000). The best of those is at best comparable to the Md Tank in previous Advance Wars games; at last, Tanks are not the all-around unit that you can repeatedly spam to win.

To me, the real problem is Infantry spam. No matter how many Tanks you make, they will never beat a flood of Infantries backed up by Artillery units. Since Tanks can't OHKO Infantries, the Tanks can't reach the protected Artillery; thus the Tanks will be obliterated next turn.

That situation sounds extremely similar to the situation in Company of Heroes if you play as the Germans.

What is this Company of Heroes you speak of? It sounds like it could be interesting.

Its a World War II strategy game for the PC. As of right now, the balance is in favor of the allies, but it is still fun. If you have steam, you can get the package deal with it and its expansion for 30 bucks, but otherwise they're 20 each. Also, make sure you have a good computer, as it is a bit more graphics intensive than some other RTS out there.

K... I heard, in the area that the Battle of the Bulge took place, that is how the Allies lost many solders. Infantry spam.

They obviously didn't have ranger squads who can run past machine guns with no casualties, take on almost any tank the Germans have, and take a rediculous amount of hits due to their amazing armor.

Well, rangers only exist in that incarnation in Company of Heroes.

Since Tanks can't OHKO Infantries, the Tanks can't reach the protected Artillery; thus the Tanks will be obliterated next turn. Well, that's a lot tougher to do in Days of Ruin. Infantry cost 1,500 funds rather than just 1,000, making it harder to repeatedly deploy them. And there are more things that can hurt them, like the Duster. Edit: And Joe, Luftwaffle is only referring to Company of Heroes, not what really happened in WWII.
