I think it should be allowed, but I have very little say in the matter. Maybe he should do something like what I was planning to do with my shadowsword, which is make a large day base for the machine, then smaller day attachments. That makes it so it can be a stronger metal-armored vehicle (because you don't have to make the whole thing out of the material) and makes it quicker.
In my opinion, it just has to make sense, like builing the chassis of a tank and then the cannon, but not half of the armor and then the other half in two seperate projects.

Seems fair enough, since you have to add defenses on it for it to be able to attack. Approved, and nice idea.

Just one more thing, after the Fortress is complete, would it be possible to use non flying metals to make stronger armor and weapons for it, or does it all have to be able to fly.

You can add defenses with non-aircraft metals, but its hull should be mostly aircraft metal like Aluminum or Stainless Steel.

So would it be possible to strengthen the hull with non flying metals later, for example if I build much stronger/more thrusters to hold more weight.

Yes, but the majority of it must be an aircraft metal.
Stainless Steel works well for armor and is an aircraft metal. You could upgrade to that later.

Just to show the individual parts of my flying fortress.
400 flying metal for hull, 40 days 400 flying metal for command tower 40 days 300 flying metal for thrusters, 40 days 300 flying metal for deck, 40 days 100 flying metal for assembly, 40 days
can assemble the other parts to each other seperately for 10 days per part being assembled and 25 aluminum for each piece,
Example Hull to Command Tower 20 days, 50 aluminum then Hull+command tower to thrusters and deck, 30 days 75 aluminum.
This is so that I can assemble the pieces and construct the parts I don't have at the cost of more time, petals, and resources.

Quite honestly, building in parts isn't a very good idea to begin with. You'd be better off doing it all in one project.

No, because then it wil take 200 in game days, this speeds it up a bit.

Either way it will have the strength of 160 days; the assembly makes up for the advantage of getting to build in parts, and will be unnecessary if you build it all in one project. This way, you only have to do 160 days worth of projects, but it all has to be in one segment. This is to prevent people from whipping up a big 100-day weapon in only 20 days.

I must agree with Maka here. Building in segments, while you sacrifice your ability to make other things, speeds up production like crazy.

To summarize, you can split up projects, but they will be significantly weaker than if done in a single long project.

what about adding armor to something? It doesn't seem like the armor would be any weaker if it were attached later...

Adding armor would take the form of an upgrade for a machine, so I don't think it would be any weaker.

First techs of the new version, here they are:
Soft stepping (all pikmin)(20 days): All pikmin troops are trained to walk more softly while carrying their big sticks, making them much harder to hear.
Transparency (Lagoon Stalkers)(28 days): Makes the pikmin take on a transparent aspect, as the name suggests. When moving a lot the effect will dissipate mostly and they will be able to be seen by the naked eye, but standing still they are almost invisible. Also loses power for a small while if they fire off a weapon, but using a knife only reveals them briefly. ================================================
Mostly the transparency has the effect to be OPed, so just checking.
