Unless stated otherwise, these rules will be active at pretty much all times. Adhere to them and the forum looks better and the members act better and Dumple is happier and nobody divides by zero. Kthx? Thx.
==========
1. Spam and be banned!
Spamming can be defined as off-topic posting, saying something completely irrelevant to a thread/board, or rambling something utterly useless. A few spam posts per thread are okay; everyone's guilty of it. However, there is little excuse for having a completely off-topic conversation in a thread or similar things. If you must, take it to the Deck. Excess spamming can result in posts being deleted and if it goes extremely overboard, an account suspension. (Spam=Stupid Pointless Annoying Message.)
2. Flame and be blamed!
Flaming is, simply, directly or indirectly insulting somebody. A few insults aren't anything to worry about, and are all over the internet anyway, but keep the hate rants to yourself. Excessive flaming could result in a post edit and maybe a smite.
3. Complain and feel pain!
There are a few things moderators can't stand, and one of those things is whining. However, feel free to protest--Whining and protesting are two vastly different things. Also, if you must protest, don't take it overboard. Wailing about something just makes us dislike you and really doesn't make anyone feel sorry for you.
4. Act like a troll, get thrown in the hole!
Trolling is purposefully trying to get somebody angry, or just firing off blatant statements and opinions without much backup. For example, saying "Barack Obama is a terrible president," is extreme trolling. If you made more of a calm post and provided some reasons, it'd be okay...that is, if it weren't politics. Don't bring religion and politics anywhere here as well, please.
5. Bump and meet Lord Crump!
This rule really needs to be followed from now on. Bumping is posting in an old, or "Dead," topic. If a topic is more than seven days old, unless you really have something new to add, don't post in it. If it's more than ten days old, you should really have something important or insightful to say. And if it's more than two weeks old, it had better be a bump for great justice. And there aren't many of those. Just look at the time of the last post in a thread to see how old it is. Bumping could result in an anvil falling on your head and a postcount drop.
6. Swear and beware!
Really, swearing's not something too bad around here; nonetheless, don't take it too far. Feel free to cuss, but don't get extremely hateful or make it a regular part of your vocabulary here. Express your anger without just detonating. It's usually okay to just "Censor" it, by filling in most or all of it with asterisks. Like this: "S***". Too much swearing could result in a post edit.
7. Flood and lose blood!
Flooding is making a lot of posts, or maybe even only a few, with little depth or meaning. An example could be making a post, then remembering something else you wanted to say, and making another post to say it. Use the Edit button for that instead. Additionally, off-topic conversations with your friends will not be tolerated.
And here's one more rule because a few people aren't following it: When there is a forum announcement, read it soon. There won't be any excuse for not following rules added from forum announcements now that this thang's here, so don't forget to read the announcements.
==========
And, lastly, if the warnings don't work and you keep on slapping the rules in the face, your account may be suspended for a day or two. It's just an effort to make this place fun to be around and a good game, but that can't happen if rules aren't adhered to. Yar!
